Environmental Task Force Lead
Cristina works with the Human Space Program to support collaborations between environmentalists and space ventures towards ensuring our future is ultimately of benefit to the Earth and the celestial systems we settle. With a decade of study and research in Earth and space sciences, and a passion for ethics and sustainable for-profit business, Star aims to explore the positive synergy between space infrastructure, commercial sustainability innovation, and environmental activism.
Drawn to questions that arise where fields intersect, Star studied Physics at UC Berkeley with an emphasis on astrogeophysics, climate physics at University of Michigan, Space Policy (American Military University), and she is published in the Astrophysical Journal. She has done interdisciplinary research at Lawrence Berkeley National Labs, Space Sciences Lab, and Sierra Streams Institute.
Star is a founding member of both the SETI Institute Council of Advisors and the External Board Science Committee for the Institute of Noetic Sciences. Her Space Policy Masters Thesis (in progress) is on sustainable and value-based business and economic models for commercial space companies, and her space blog explores these themes.
Cristina founded and teaches at TRU Education, a mindfulness and emotional intelligence training company that incorporates wisdom traditions with Positive Psychology for the modern adult. Her current work is aimed at developing similar programs for individuals in research and technology fields, training the next generation of citizen astronauts, and she is active with supporting SpaceKind Trainings.
Cristina grew up off-grid on a 70 acre homestead and wildlife preserve her family still stewards, cultivating a lifelong passion for environmental activism and hands-on sustainable living. As a champion for multipotentialites, she is also an avid athlete, fashionista, gourmet chef, published menstrual activist (Reverence 2021), and health advocate.
