Director of Research
Ashley Kleinman is an undergraduate biology student and space enthusiast. Growing up in Florida, it was imparted in her from a young age to preserve and protect the Earth. She is fascinated with both Earth and Planetary science and realized in college the possibility of combining these two disciplines through the Overview Effect and the study of Ocean Worlds.
Her research experience includes the European Space Agency and multiple internships with NASA and Jet Propulsion Laboratory. In addition to interning, she also works as a visiting student at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution.
Ashley’s research focuses on oceans on Earth and throughout the solar system utilizing remote sensing, analytical chemistry, computational biology, and microbiology.
Ashley’s two biggest passions, space exploration and Earth conservation, inspired her to get involved with the Human Space Program to illuminate and educate others on the different ways exploring beyond our atmosphere can protect and help the Earth while ensuring our further exploration into the stars remains inclusive and ethical.
